I have a rule, its called the 55% rule – where I take a candidates CV and focus on the part of the CV that matches the job specification.
If it meets about 50% (55%) of the CV – I have a conversation with that candidate. What you discover in more conversations than not, is that the candidate has not added to their CV the information you are seeking. Turning a 50% candidate into a 80-90% candidate in one conversation.
