This is an older video I put together, but it’s come back around again recently.
A few weeks ago, I had a response from an SME after reading one of my mailers on improving recruitment. The question was simple:
“Mark, how do we get the applications we want?”
They’re a good business. Solid people. But they were struggling to find the right candidates. When they did, those people were leaving a few months later.
In the end, I picked up the role and found someone strong who is still there a few months on, so something has clearly gone right. But we had a proper conversation around what needed to change to make that happen and, more importantly, to keep that person.
So, how do you get the applications you actually want?
It’s not a secret. Most people already know, but it’s often not done properly or consistently.
Here are my thoughts.
