  • The Job Hunter’s Resource Pack: Guides, Templates and Thoughts

This is my job hunter’s resource pack: guides, templates and thoughts to help you with your job-hunting journey.

If you’re looking for a job and thinking, “This isn’t the same as I remember,” you’re right. I’ve been in recruitment since 2005, and it has changed a lot. But the basics are still the same: etiquette matters, effort matters, and being yourself still goes a long way.

The downloadable documents below cover things you may already know, things you may have forgotten, and things that are simply worth doing properly. You don’t need to work through everything at once. Start with the part that matches where you are now.

    1. Job tracking spreadsheet

Start with an easy tracking spreadsheet. This will help you keep track of which roles you’ve applied for, who you’ve contacted, and when to chase. Keep it updated weekly. It won’t be for everyone, but if you’re applying for quality over quantity, it will help.

    2. CV template

A straightforward CV template you can use and adapt. It gives you a good overview of a standard CV layout – no fluff. Use it to explain your own experience clearly, rather than trying to make yourself fit someone else’s CV.

    3. Applying for jobs guide

A guide to finding and applying for jobs, with ideas, thoughts and practical advice to support your job hunt.

    4. Interview preparation pack

We all need to prepare for interviews. This pack covers what to do before, during and after the interview, with a practical walkthrough to help you feel more prepared. For a further read, here are three common interview questions and how to answer them.

    5. Before you accept a job pack

Hopefully, you get offered a job. This guide helps you think through the offer properly, including what to check, how to handle the offer, and how to deal with counteroffers. Take the time to understand what you’re agreeing to.

    6. Resignation pack

The all-important, nerve-racking resignation. This includes a short guide, templates to help you resign professionally, and a few things to consider before handing in your notice.

Hopefully, something in here will help you with your job hunt. Finding a job can be difficult to navigate. Make sure you’re doing the right things, not just doing more things. The simplest things – like being yourself, showing good etiquette, and keeping organised – haven’t changed.
